| At the foot of the Kolar hill, there are the ruins of an old town within which lies the Temple of Nilakanteshwara. Naga-Kunte is a large pond, with a partly submerged Mandapa in the middle and the temples of Venkataramana and Najundeshwara to its north. The range extends along the northeast of the town of Kolar: the highest point being 4,026 feet above the sea level. The hill presents a barren and rocky appearance on all sides. However, on the top is an extensive plateau occupied by villages, and irrigated fields. A stream on the east, named ‘ANTHARA – GANGE” is extremely sacred. |
