Rafting is a recreational activity utilizing a raft to navigate a river. Whitewater rafting can be a dangerous activity if the proper precautions are not taken. Below is a generally accepted classification system used to classify rivers for rafting and boating difficulty:

Experience 12km (approx 3hours) of Class II (Novice, straightforward rapids with wide, clear channels); Class III (Intermediate, Strong eddies and current, requiring skilled maneuvering). Mookambika (247 sq. km) sanctuary is divided into a core zone (114 sq. km) a buffer zone (90 sq. km) and a tourism zone (43 sq. km). It has evergreen, semi-ever green and moist deciduous forests covering the steep slopes typical of the Western Ghats. The sanctuary shares its northwestern boundary with Sharavathi Wildlife Sanctuary. It is located in Udipi district.

Transportation:

Daily overnight return reclining seat bus commute by a private transporter named as “Sugama Tourist” as well as government operated “KSRTC” from Bangalore to Udipi or Hebri; it is around 8hrs drive from here. The “Sitanadi Camp site” is just 4kms away from here.
