Once known Murumbdev, Rajgad was aptly renamed so by Shivaji Maharaj. It was the first ever capital of the Hindavi Swaraj. The king was very fond of this fort thus making it his beloved. This dexterously fabricated fort held a lot of strategic importance and thus was the crown of the Sahyadri Mountains. Hence the pertinent name Rajgad as it was the “king of the forts” and the “king’s (beloved) fort”. This fort is a must visit in any ones trekking / adventure list. |
